Lindsay wouldn't want any other baby sperm in her belly. The thing is... is it left over from Gus? or did she steal some from the loft?
When Ted said Mel had an aneurysm in the ambulance... I thought an aneurysm was a pre-consisting condition. Did she have one and it burst? Well, she's definitely out of the running for being Gus' parent at the moment.

I saw the update for this today... although it was for chapter 11. Way back when the site was down, then I spent the next few months not able to get on... I lost track of this story. But, oh my god... I am SO HAPPY I found it today.
This was so great. I laughed so much! Lindsay is still in her whacked-out mind frame, and going to be waiting many moons for her *husband* to show... oh, that's right... it's Mel... short for Melanie... NOT Melvin. But he doesn't have the initials B.A.K. (I'm still wondering if she's really pregnant.)
Mel is still needing anger management, and maybe a bed alongside Lindsay.
I'm so glad Debbie has *Seen the Light*. I have no idea how or where those three will survive or live when released... so maybe they should just all continue to stay in the hospital. That way, they'll all have their three hots and a cot.
Finally, never, never, NEVER underestimate the inner workings of the mind of a child. Gus wanted Chase... but managed to get his own kitty... by process of elimination. And I second - through -a gazillion times - agree with Justin... NO SNAKES!!! I am an ophidiophobia. Largely in part because of my cousin (who was like a brother) and a prank he pulled when I was eleven.
The pic at the bottom... I've had a copy of that forever. I always wondered how it was taken, as it isn't a canon pic.

That was an amazing chapter, Kathleen. I understand both POVs on this. It all boils down to Justin doing what he believes Brian needs done, whether Brian agrees with it or not. On the flipside of that, I understand Brian's concern that Justin is underestimating the delusions and vindictiveness of Michael and Lindsay. In truth, Brian has EVERY reason to be concerned since he knows the tantrums that Michael and Lindsay tend to throw when thwarted.
That said, I'm glad that Brian could appreciate exactly what Justin's actions in the courtroom meant for their situation. I only wish that he was somewhere hidden within the confines of the cafeteria to hear exactly what Justin said to Michael, so he could have seen firsthand his former best friend's reaction to it. The truth is that NOT ONE PERSON thinks that Michael will adhere to the stipulations put forth. Oh, he may abide by them for a month at the most, but then he'll show that he's the same petulant pissant he's always been. So to that end, I agree with Justin in taking the weight of Michael's downfall off of his own shoulders, and putting the responsibility for success/failure squarely back onto Michael's.
It's a brilliant strategy, especially when dealing with Michael Novotny, who has always had someone to cloak and cover for his idiocy instead of making him own up to them. One question though, is the restraining order mentioned in Chapter 9 going to be officially in place? I know that the judge said that Michael was still to report to the prison for his weekend stay, but I have to wonder if it will be implemented, even though Michael technically violated it though he wasn't yet served when he did. Now that he'll be on conditional release, I hope that becomes an added stipulation if for no other reason than Michael won't be able to fight the compulsion to force his way into Brian's life again.
I know, I'm completely EVIL when it comes to Michael... and I just love that I am. LOL

That is what's great about this chapter, it's easy to see things from both their perspectives, they're both right. Never, ever underestimate what evil lurks in the back of their brains, once you make it through the cobwebs... Yes, Brian should have been eavesdropping on Justin, when he set Michael straight on just how strong his marriage to Brian is. But, Brian will find out as their love grows stronger, and Justin is always there to support him. Michael might not like it, even though the judge my be giving him a second (or third) chance. I get why Brian and Justin are angry they are both right and they both wrong Lindsay could've attacked Justin and there is a possibility she will when she finds out that Brian is married and will be raising the baby with Justin.
Lindsay should not be underestimated she had everyone fooled for Years and no hospital will stop her from getting what babe perceives as hers.
Michael is getting quite a second chance and if he screws up it is all on him cause Brian is finally ready to leave him behind to fix and figure out his own life.
Like Brian I don't think Michael deserves any consideration or leniency but Justin was thinking of Brian when he made such a generous offer in front of the judge.
Brian and Justin will just have to learn to compromise so their marriage can grow stronger and that talking is good but both have to listen to each side before flying off the handle.
The make up sex should help repair the crack.

Author's Response: Yes, they both have reasons to believe they're right. But now, hopefully in the future they'll try and see things from the others perspective. Lindsay is a master manipulator, so the boy's better watch their backs, you never know what she'll do. Michael, ugh, just give him time, he'll be back wearing an orange jumpsuit soon enough. Great chapter, Kathleen! Justin's care and handling of Mel was heartbreaking, but at the same time so hopeful. Although she's normally a raging and raving bitch, it was gut wrenching to see her brought to a place where she couldn't actually speak. That her career basically mandates that she's able to do so, it has to be a very traumatic wake up call for her that she may not be able to resume it fully. Justin's idea for the computer was genius! And his kindness towards her, while giving her an eye-opening glimpse of Brian's motivations, was legendary in that it got her to see that Brian was never the BIG EVIL she made up in her head courtesy of her wife's obsession with him. Perhaps with Justin's continued help and presence, this will be a major turning point for Mel.
Deb's visit with Michael was GREAT! Once again, you had me out here yelling 'YES, HIT HIS PUNKASS AGAIN!' but fortunately there's no one out here today to look at me like I need to be committed...LOL He is such an idiotic little troll! That he could justify his mistreatment of Gus, and then compare what he did to how Jack broke Brian's bones, was just unbelievably believable! Well, I would imagine that his time behind bars is about to get very interesting indeed! While Michael reaps what he's sown, I'm glad that Deb is going to be able to move on with her life, and that Carl will be there to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart and broken dreams where her son is concerned. Time to start really living, Debbie, and not just existing for Michael's benefit and wellbeing!

It may not be the future she has envisioned, but I think it will be one that she'll be able to find some happiness in. Author's Response: Most of the prisoners having suffered abuse as children, then overhearing Michael's abusive rant about how Gus deserved his broken, will indeed land Michael in the infirmary. Debbie may have overcompensated for Michael growing up without a father, but like Carl said Michael made his choices that landed him in the slammer. Playing the recording of Lindsay's behavior for the judge, will prove she's unfit and unhinged. Now about that volcano, to bad they aren't in Hawaii. Gus asking Justin to marry him too had me going Awww! That is one adorable kid Brian and Justin have.
Lindsay still thinks she has a chance to keep Brian, Gus and the money in her life too bad she forgot that once you get in Brian's bad side, you stay on Brian's bad side for Infinity and Beyond! (Yep had to do the Toy Story reference lol), she has a much of a chance of Brian forgiving her as Michael does of staying out of prison.
I feel bad for Mel she neglected her health to cater to Lindsay and hating Brian for one night of Bleh that makes him cringe in remembrance and celebrate that dick will always be his favorite choice, but in a way because Mel always wish that Brian would die that this stroke is a karmic payback and second chance to change her ways.

OMG! This chapter was EVERYTHING!! So JUICY and full of plot... I couldn't stop reading and certainly can't wait for more!
Lindsay is really some piece of work! Brian showed great restraint in his dealing with her. She played all her many faces to the hilt, and when that didn't work out the way she planned, she pulled out little Miss Anger. I wonder how much of the conversation the Petersons overheard, and if they really will try to fight Brian for custody. If I was them, while I would want my daughter to get well, I still wouldn't trust the bitch to raise a child. I hope they exercise at least a modicum of good judgment and self-preservation because if they don't I can't see Brian having a problem with flaying them alive. I wonder how many months along Lindsay is... and what she will tell them? Hmmm, I can already see her tendency to play fast and loose with the truth weighing in heavily here.
As for Michael... LAWD HAM TURKEY GRITS HAM AND FREAKING CHEESE, that fool is DUMB AS HELL!!! What a moron! And not only that, for him to arrive at Brian's house...oh pardon me, his LOFT, then for him to put his hands on Gus??!!!! I was probably the only fool sitting here reading, yelling at the screen and advising Justin to hit his punk ass again and to add feet. I'm sitting outside and my neighbors were looking at me like I was insane for actually CHEERING aloud! I hope the same judge who sent him to 'weekend' jail in the first place gets this case, too. It will be interesting to see how he will explain disobeying (and to think he kept harping on Gus being disobedient and disrespectful- ASS!) the Parole Officer's orders to go directly to the halfway house. I can't wait to see what the punishment for that idiocy will be!
GOOD FOR DEBBIE! She is FINALLY understanding that Michael is TOXIC to her peace of mind and well-being. Not only that, but she's realized that if Michael has been arrested again, it was his own fault. At last, she's growing up and seeing for herself just how selfish, self-absorbed, and self-destructive Michael really is! I hope everything- especially Michael's hidden stash of comic merchandise- gets put out on the curb. Or better yet, give the items to Ted and Brian! They will make sure she receives a good deal on all of it, and it will add nicely to her retirement fund.
Oh Kathleen, this was such an AMAZING chapter! This was just the kick in the mind I needed to kickstart my 'writing' day!

Author's Response: Yes, Lindsay has tried to influence Brian from every angle, but he's no longer sympathetic to her manipulates. Her parents are on to her modus operandi, and won't be fooled any more than Brian. I can just picture you reading, with the neighbors looking on, ha, ha, ha... Michael, he just can't help but setting himself up for a permanent stay on the cell block, soon to be everyman's bitch. Yes, Debbie's put enough space between her and Michael, that's she is finally seeing him for who he really is.
